Hurricane Who?

All I can say is that we are very fortunate to have been on the right side of hurricane Ike.

Last night, Susan, Gabe and I were headed to church. There were just so many people at every gas station that we passed. These people were loading up on food, gas, water. While watching these people, we were asking ourselves, why are they loading up so much? Where did they come from? Are they headed back home to the destruction already?

The reason we ask these questions, is because we have no idea what these people are going through. I hope that we never have to face the wrath of what a hurricane can really do.

This really put into perspective on how un-prepared I am to help people when destruction like this happens.

Just the day before, we were headed to the grocery store. As we passed a local motel, Susan noticed a woman coming out, and shaking her head to the man and children in a car. Was she telling them that there was no more room at the 'inn? As much as I wanted to turn my car around and tell them, "come stay with us", I just wasnt sure if that was the righ thing to do. Would I be putting my family in harms way if I brought strangers in?

The hurricane and its name no longer matter. How do we help the people?
